When you hire a caregiver for your children, you are putting a lot of trust in someone you don’t know. One family experienced an extremely unexpected nightmare involving the nanny they trusted. Marissa Mowry, the family’s hired caregiver, not only sexually assaulted their 11-year-old son, but also gave birth to his child. The discovery has left the parents grappling with a profound sense of betrayal, anger, and heartbreak.
This distressing case underscores the crucial importance of thorough background checks, vigilance, and open communication in protecting children from potential predators. Inside Edition got an exclusive interview with Chris McBride to discuss how Marissa Mowry groomed him while being their live-in nanny.
The first question Chris got asked was, what was his earliest memory of Marissa crossing the line with him. He replied, “It was a game called 'Are You Nervous,' and the object of that game was she’d place her hand somewhere on my body and I’d say if I was nervous or not and things escalated from there.” When the abuse started happening, Marissa was 22 years old, and Chris was only 11.
Marissa would tell Chris that she loved him and that she wanted to date him, but she couldn’t let anyone know about it. She would inform Chris that he would have to lie about the events that were taking place, or she would have to go away. Chris told Inside Edition that when Marissa informed him that she was having his baby, he was “a little bit freaked because I was confused.”
For three years, Chris kept the secret that he was a father to Marissa’s baby from his family. Also, during those three years, the nanny still lived with the family, telling them that another man was Bentley’s father. Chris finally came clean to his mother, who didn’t believe him at first. A DNA test proved Chris was Bentley’s dad.

Chris’ mom said, “How did I let this woman manipulate me and my family in such a way that she could do this, and I was blind to it?” Bentley is now 5 years old, and claims that Chris is “the best daddy!”
