If there's one thing we all know, it's that you should never ask a pregnant woman about her body. All expectant women carry babies differently, which means baby bumps will look different on everyone.
Belle Lucia, an Australian model, was six months pregnant with her first child in 2019. She couldn't wait to welcome her baby. Over the previous months, she shared tons of pregnancy photos and updates with her 1.3 million Instagram followers.
Throughout her pregnancy, Belle's baby bump was pretty small. Belle is very fit, so her bump didn't "pop" very much. That hasn't stopped her from sharing a ton of adorable pregnancy photos on Instagram.
Many of her followers think her belly is so tiny that there's no way she's pregnant — and they've shared their opinions in the comments section.
Belle isn't just sitting by as people criticize her for having a small baby bump, though. She's been sharing her thoughts in order to shut down the trolls.
This story originally appeared on LittleThings in June 2019.
Belle Lucia is six months pregnant with her first child, and she couldn't be more excited to become a mom. The Australian model has shared all the ups and downs of her pregnancy on Instagram.
Belle has been open and honest about many aspects of her pregnancy, including the tough parts. She even shared an Instagram story when she was experiencing morning sickness on a train.
The typically glamorous model has made sure to show her followers everything she's been through this pregnancy. And recently, she was excited to announce that she's officially six months pregnant!
Throughout the weeks, Belle has posted numerous bump photos to her Instagram story "Pregnancy" highlight. Anyone who has been following along with her pregnancy journey knows that she's always had a small baby bump.
All women carry babies differently — some show really early on, while others barely show at all. Belle's bump has definitely been growing; it's just been small all along!
Unfortunately, some of Belle's followers took it upon themselves to leave rude messages about the size of her baby bump. "I don't think your baby is healthy AT ALL," one woman wrote.
Other people criticized her for not gaining enough weight. One woman called her "narcissistic" and "cruelly selfish" for not having a bigger bump, claiming she's trying to stay thin to look pretty.
Of course, that's not the case at all. Belle and her baby are both healthy, and a doctor is the only one who can/should comment on her weight, size, and overall health.
Belle isn't the first to face criticism about her small baby bump. Sarah Stage, a fitness blogger also known as "Six-Pack Mom," received similar backlash when she was pregnant in 2017.
Sarah left a comment on Belle's Instagram, showing her support for the mom-to-be. Sarah knows what it's like to be criticized for having a small baby bump, so she came to Belle's defense.
Belle didn't stay silent, either — she took to her Instagram stories to call out the trolls for their criticism. She shared a video of herself doing a hair flip and wrote that her critics were living a "sad life."
In addition to shutting down her haters on Instagram, Belle took to her YouTube channel to do a pregnancy question-and-answer session. She answered all sorts of questions about her experience being pregnant.
Belle still has a few months of pregnancy left, but she definitely can't wait to be a mom. She and her partner are excited to become parents together.
It's obvious that Belle has a good head on her shoulders and knows how to handle criticism well. She'll definitely be an amazing mom!
