Grandparents around the country are going viral because of their reactions to a wholesome TikTok trend. Adult grandkid sleepovers are trending, inspiring people to surprise their grandparents by showing up at their houses to spend the night. A lot of the grandparents in the videos appear confused at first, but later, they're overjoyed to have their adult grandkids staying at their houses again, just like when they were kids. One woman, Brandi, shared a video of her mom's grandkids having a surprise sleepover.
Brandi told Today.com that she used to work nights as a nurse when her kids were younger, so her kids would stay with their grandma, Pam Fair, 67, and grandpa regularly. However, the grandkids, Madelyn, 23, Sydney, 21, and Jakob, 23, haven't spent the night there since they were kids.
"Surprised their Nana with a sleep over," Brandi captioned the video she shared on TikTok. "They havent done this since they were little ❤️#grandparents #christmas2023 ."
Pam wasn't expecting her grandchildren to spend the night at her house, but Brandi told Today.com that she was "so excited" and said, "I will never forget this."

Another TikTok user, Jess Armstrong, gathered her cousins together — including some that live out of state — to surprise their grandparents. She told Good Morning America that she initiated it by sending a text to her cousins. "I texted all of my cousins in a huge group chat and I said, 'We have to do this. It would surprise them and they would love it,'" she told GMA.
Her grandparents, especially her "papa," were really touched, and she and her cousins want to keep the tradition going.
Many people who no longer have grandparents in their lives commented on the videos, encouraging people to do something similar if they still have the opportunity.
"If you still have grandparents do this for those of us who don't have them anymore," one TikTok user wrote.
Another commented, "I would give anything to have an adult sleepover at my nans. I miss that woman beyond belief. I hope I’ll have this one day with my own grandchildren."
Tori Hahlen, 24, and her cousins also decided to surprise their grandparents. "This is your sign to surprise your grandparents with a sleepover with all your adult cousins," Tori captioned the video.
When their grandma answered her door, one of the cousins could be heard saying, "We came to have a sleepover."
"You came to have a sleepover?" Their grandma responded. "Well, that's great."
Tori told People that the cousins each guessed how their grandparents would react to the surprise.
"Nana would cry tears of joy and Grandad would chuckle and tease us for making Nana cry," she told the outlet. "And that's exactly what happened!"

Some TikTok users who have a lot of cousins commented on adult grandkid sleepover videos saying that they were worried that organizing a sleepover with their cousins could be a burden for their grandparents since there are so many of them.
"Bring food, air mattresses, bedding, and a smile," one TikTok user advised. "Even if it’s a tight fit, it’s only for a night."
Many of the people who planned the adult sleepovers came prepared, bringing their own bedding and food. When speaking to GMA, Jess also provided some tips.
She recommended bringing lots of food and picking up after yourself to avoid creating more work for the grandparents.
