A mom revealed that she is only buying Christmas gifts for one of her kids this year. In a video shared on TikTok, the mom, Tiffany Chesson, shared that her 3-month-old baby, who she held during the video, would not be receiving Christmas gifts from her this year because she's "too young to understand, appreciate."
Anticipating possible negative comments in response to the video, the mom noted in the caption that she would soon find out if she's "the worlds worst mum for refusing to get [her] baby anything for her first Christmas."
After admitting that she's only buying Christmas gifts for one of her kids this year, the mom assured viewers that she's not playing favorites. "I don't have a favorite, I will tell you that for free," the mom said in the video, referring to her children. "But this one is 3 months old and by the time Christmas rolls around, she'll be about 5. Does she need presents? No she doesn't."
Because she's so young, the mom believes "there is literally no point in buying her a Christmas present." She also doesn't really have the money to spend on more gifts, she added.
"I don't have the money to buy her a Christmas present. I'm on maternity pay. My friends and family are going to buy her presents and that's absolutely A-OK. I don't have a problem with someone buying her presents. I'm just not going to do it for her," the mom shared, adding that her child will be about 18 months old next Christmas and she will definitely get gifts from her mom at that point.
Many people who commented on the video were supportive, assuring the mom that she is not a bad mom.
"Ur not a bad mother She's to young to understand what a gift is U r quite fine and doing the right thing," one person commented. "As long as she has milk and diapers."
Another person agreed that the mom is being "fiscally responsible" because "Christmas is far too commercialized anyway."

Others were more critical, with one person writing, "I think it's cruel what your doing."
Some told the mom that she should at least get her baby something.
"Aww surely she could get a blankie, teddy and a cute outfit x," one person commented.
Several people recommended wrapping hand-me-downs or items that the baby needs just so that she has something, especially so the mom's other child doesn't think it's strange that the baby got nothing from Santa.
"I wrapped bottles, clothes, teethers etc. big brother would've noticed if Santa didn't bring the baby anything," one person commented.
One TikTok user recommended giving the baby a book, and the mom said she loved the idea.
"Buy a Christmas book and write a little message inside for her 1st Christmas," the TikTok user suggested. "Bring it out every year to read."
