Two people in Colorado have been arrested in connection with the murders of two children who were last seen in 2018. Corena Rose Minjarez and Jesus Dominguez were charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse, according to a news release from the Pueblo Police Department.
On January 20, 2024, police responded to "suspicious activity" and found a suspicious-looking container in a storage unit. The container was "filled with hardened concrete," according to police, and two days later, police found human remains in the container.
As part of the investigation involving the remains found in the container, two missing children were identified. The two children, Jesus Dominguez Jr. and Yesenia Dominguez, had not been seen since the summer of 2018.
Through the investigation, police discovered that the children were never reported missing. Police learned that they were missing on January 20, 2024, even though the children had not been seen for around six years. When police later interviewed Dominguez, 35, and Minjarez, 36, officers were told that the children might be in Phoenix, Arizona.

According to police, the missing girl, Yesenia, would've been about 3 years old when she was last seen, and the missing boy, Jesus, would've been 5.
On February 6, police searched a vehicle that belonged to Minjarez as part of their investigation. They found a suitcase in the vehicle, and discovered human remains inside the suitcase.
On February 15, DNA evidence revealed that the remains in the container were Yesenia's and the remains in the suitcase were Jesus', according to police.
The New York Times reported that the relationship between the children and the suspects has not been confirmed as of February 18.
The New York Post reported on February 19 that Dominguez was the father of the children, but his girlfriend, Minjarez, is not their mother.
Though the children were never reported missing, welfare checks had previously been requested, according to Sgt. Franklyn Ortega, reported New York Post.
However, police were never able to find the children, Ortega said.
Minjarez and Dominguez are each being held on a $2 million bond. New York Post reported that whether either suspect has an attorney remains unknown.
