Prince Albert Says His Family Supports Him Amid Harsh Accusations From Former Accountant

Prince Albert of Monaco has finally spoken up about the allegations against him. At the beginning of 2024, Prince Albert's former accountant, Claude Palmero, started sharing information about Albert's spending habits. Speaking with French newspaper Le Monde, Claude said that Albert spends millions on allowances for his former mistresses and the children from those relationships. He also alleged that Albert's wife, Princess Charlene, just loves spending money on extravagant things.

Claude also said that the family employs undocumented workers as nannies and doesn't pay them well. But it seems that Albert isn't letting the allegations get to him.

Speaking to French news magazine Paris Match for his 66th birthday, Prince Albert revealed that his family has been supportive in spite of the less-than-favorable articles about him.

"Thankfully, my whole family is there for me, showering me with their affection, both my immediate family and the extended family of Monegasque," he said.

He added that his wife, Princess Charlene, was upset — but also supportive.

"She was also very upset for me, and saddened by certain things that came out in the media," he said. "We supported each other. She has resumed many of her activities, more public engagements, to everyone’s delight."

The former accountant shared confidential notebooks with Le Monde. He alleged that Princess Charlene once spent €965,000 on decorations for a villa, and €1 million on office decorations at another location. Palmero also tried to say that Prince Albert uses a "secret bank account" to send money to his former mistresses.

But it seems that Prince Albert is not too bothered by the allegations. Palmero was fired last year after working for Prince Albert for 22 years. In a statement, Albert said the former accountant's allegations have revealed "his true nature and the little respect … he has for the family and the principality," as per the Guardian.
