Store Owner Catches Teen Stealing From His Store, Next Day Teen’s Life Is Changed Forever

For many individuals living in the United States, going hungry and without food daily is a sad reality. Often due to circumstances beyond their control, sometimes people get desperate and do things that they wouldn’t normally do if not for their dire situation.

7-Eleven store owner Jitendra “Jay” Singh was working at his store in Toledo, Ohio, one day when one of his store clerks notified him that someone in the store appeared to be stealing.

Jay wasn’t sure what to do as shoplifting was a real problem for his store, but he wanted to be sure, so he decided to check the security tape first.

According to WTVG 13 Action News, after Jay watched the surveillance videos showing the teen in question, he went out to the floor to confront him. After Jay asked the teen if he wanted him to call the police or simply surrender the items he took, the young man told the convenience store owner that he was “hungry” and stealing for himself and his “younger brother.”

The news outlet reported that after Jay heard the teen’s honest response, he sent the teen back to the food aisle to grab a pizza, sandwiches, and other items, all free of charge.

Jay has owned the Toledo 7-Eleven for five years and his wife, Neera Singh, is “really proud” of how her husband handled this difficult situation. She called her spouse a “kind” and “caring” individual who loves to “help the community.”
