In the depths of unimaginable grief, Andrea Lott Haney found solace in an unexpected place — helping others navigate the treacherous terrain of loss. Twice widowed before the age of 50, Andrea’s journey through heartbreak and healing has transformed her pain into purpose, offering hope and support to those grappling with their own struggles.
Andrea’s story begins with the loss of her first husband, Gary, in 2010. Married for nearly a decade, Andrea and Gary were inseparable, partners in both life and business. Their idyllic existence was shattered one fateful day in March when Gary died from a cardiac arrest, leaving Andrea and their daughter, Hannah, reeling from the sudden and devastating loss.
Reflecting on that tragic day, Andrea recalls the mundane moments that would forever alter the course of her life. “We had the weekend off together. Went to The Cheesecake Factory, and did some shopping,” she recounts. “We were eating dinner and helping Hannah with her homework … When the show came back on, I was like ‘Hey babe! Wake up, it’s back on,’ and he didn’t wake up.”
In the middle of her grief, Andrea found a lifeline in the form of a childhood friend, Brian, who stepped in to offer support and companionship. Their bond, forged in childhood, blossomed into a deep and abiding love, culminating in marriage in September 2012. Tragically, Andrea’s newfound happiness was short-lived, as Brian’s health began to deteriorate, eventually leading to a diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
In 2022, Andrea was once again confronted with the anguish of loss as Brian died, leaving her to navigate the lonely landscape of grief once more. Yet, even in the depths of despair, Andrea found the strength to carry on, drawing upon her own experiences to offer guidance and support to others facing similar struggles.
