We have all been there. You finally get to your comfy bed and then no rest comes. You toss and turn all night. The solution may be easier than you think.
A study published in Journal of Physiological Anthropology found that socks helped people sleep better. It discovered that men who wore them knocked out seven minutes faster and stayed asleep 32 minutes longer. They also woke up around seven times less than those sockless men. So on your next restless night toss on a pair and see if that helps.
Wearing cozy socks actually lowers your body’s core temperature according to Dr. Michael Breus, a clinical psychologist and sleep medicine expert. This means more Zs. When your core body temperature drops, your brain thinks it is time for sleep and releases melatonin, the sleep hormone.
The kind of socks you wear to bed matters. Dr. Breus recommends that they are not too tight because you don’t want to restrict blood flow. He also advises they are made of fabrics such as cotton, linen, or bamboo because they are breathable. Dr. Michelle Drerup adds you should wear a clear pair, not the same socks you wore all day.

Another sleep tip is to keep your room cold. Some experts recommend the temperature to be 68 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit for the best quality sleep. “I typically recommend temperatures at least two to five degrees cooler than a comfortable temperature in the house during the day,” Dr. Nilong Vyas told Fortune. With the cold room and your cozy socks, you won't even need to count sheep.
