Pop Star Priorities: Kelly Clarkson’s Key Advice To Meghan Trainor About Touring With Kids

Moms help out other moms. This even applies when both mothers in question are pop stars. Meghan Trainor appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show on April 29, 2024. She is about to go on tour with her two sons Riley, 3, and Barry, 9 months. Kelly has been there.

Kelly had some words of wisdom for Meghan: It is impossible to do it all. Kelly told her she needs to be OK with having help. Thankfully, Meghan’s husband Daryl Sabara is a great dad and partner.

Kelly has two kids of her own, daughter River Rose, 9, and son Remy, 8. She shares them with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. She urged Meghan to get “proper sleep” because she was going to need it to perform each night. Kelly let her know she doesn’t need to wake up at 6 a.m. with the kids.

"I have one tip for you, and this is because I think a lot of, especially, women have so much guilt on the road — just in general — but especially with your kiddos, you feel like you have to wake up with them,” Kelly advised. “Don’t do that.”

Kelly had an alternative plan. “Have someone,” she continued. “Let him wake up with them. Sleep in as long as you can, ‘cause you don’t go onstage for your vocals until late. It will screw you cause your voice will hate you.”

Meghan thought that was “brilliant” advice. She stated that this mini-tour was an experiment to see if they could do more. “It's only, like, a two-month tour,” Meghan explained. “And everyone's like, ‘Where's my UK dates? Where's the long tour?’ And I was like, ‘We are trying. We're gonna dip our toe in and see if we survive. You know? And then we will add dates.’”
