Equestrian Star Georgie Campbell Dies At Age 37 After Falling Off Horse During Competition

The equestrian community suffered a tragic loss on Sunday, May 26, 2024. While Georgie Campbell was competing at the Bicton International Horse Trials in Devon, England, she fell off her horse and died as a result of her injuries. She was 37 years old.

Georgie began riding at age 2. Her mother Debbie Campbell was an endurance rider. Georgie married Jesse Campbell, an event rider, in 2020.

British Eventing, the governing body of the equestrian sport in England issued a statement about the somber situation. “It is with deepest regret that we announce that Georgie Campbell (GBR) suffered a fatal accident whilst competing,” it began.

Lifesaving measures were attempted. “Medical professionals attended immediately following her fall at fence 5b however, unfortunately, she could not be saved,” the statement went on to say. Her horse, Global Quest, was also examined. They “walked back to the stable" afterwards and is "uninjured.”

The organization concluded its statement by asking the public to give the family space. “To respect the family’s privacy at this extremely difficult and sad time, no further details will be shared," it concluded. This is an unthinkable loss for them.

Many in the equestrian community are mourning this devastating loss. Pippa Funnell and the Bicton Arena shared three simple emojis on Instagram to honor Georgie. These were a purple heart, a white heart, and a dove with an olive branch.

Others took to Team Campbell Eventing’s Instagram account and left their condolences in the comment section.
