Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica Stoll have decided not to end their seven-year marriage. The couple called off their divorce just under a month after the Northern Irish professional golfer filed on May 13, 2024. On Tuesday, June 11, 204, McIlroy's attorney filed a notice of voluntary dismissal on his behalf in Florida's Palm Beach County Court.
“There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game," the golfer told The Guardian in an interview.
"Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together," he continued. "Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning."
The couple share one daughter, Poppy, together. According to a friend of the golfer, it's rumored that the decision could've came from him not wanting to rack up legal fees. "Perhaps, The cold realization of exactly how much the divorce could cost him hit hard," the source said. "McIlroy has amassed a fortune of more than [$250 million] and his projected earnings in his career are predicted to be more than double that figure."

"Surely he didn't want to see all that money he's accrued diminish," the friend continued. "It would have felt like a huge waste if millions ended up in the pockets of lawyers. This doesn't confirm they have completely reconciled their differences. It's a cooling off period and the next six months will be telling as to whether they can properly patch up the relationship."
