Firerose has submitted her own divorce filing, and in it, she accuses Billy Ray Cyrus of abuse and alleges that he filed for divorce just a day before she was supposed to have a double mastectomy. Billy Ray Cyrus, 62, and Firerose, 36, tied the knot in October 2023. Billy Ray filed for divorce just seven months later, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct.
He is also seeking an annulment due to alleged fraud. In her own filing, Firerose noted that she had a preventive mastectomy scheduled for May 24, 2024, the day after Billy Ray filed for divorce, reported People.
Firerose was encouraged by her doctors to get a double mastectomy because she found out she has a BRCA1 gene mutation in 2020, reported People. Billy Ray was allegedly supposed to cover the costs of her surgery.
"Wife relied on Husband’s promises to pay for her surgery, and Husband has now repudiated that promise," the filing stated, as per People. "On the day Wife was set to get her surgery, she was instead searching for a place to live and under a significant amount of emotional distress."
Firerose's filing also alleges that she "was subjected to Husband’s persistent drug use accompanied with the consumption of marijuana which made Husband unpredictable and volatile towards [her]."
She accused Billy Ray of "extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse," saying that she felt "unsafe."

Leading up to her surgery, Billy Ray allegedly "continuously launched verbal assaults" at Firerose and "would often call her a 'selfish f–ing b—-,'" according to the filing.
The filing also stated that Billy Ray often accused Firerose of "using him."
