A woman on TikTok was so touched when she moved to a new neighborhood and her 98-year-old neighbor brought her a gift. The heartwarming gesture prompted her to share a video on TikTok about it and make a pie for her new neighbor in return.
"We just moved into a house and my 98-year-old neighbor just dropped off a cake to welcome us to the neighborhood," Kelly McDuff said in the video, which has been viewed more than 13 million times. She also noted that her neighbor told her he has lived in the neighborhood for 52 years and "hopes we love it as much as he has."
Though Kelly just recently moved into her new home, she captioned her video with "I love it here" because of the positive experience with her neighbor.

She then decided to make a lemon pie for him, which she showed in a follow-up video. In the video, she said that she wanted to see her neighbor again and get to know him better.
After baking the lemon pie, she went to her neighbor's house and told him that she baked him a pie. "Bless you, sweetheart, I love lemon pie," her neighbor could be heard saying in the background when she brought him the pie. "You didn't have to do that, but I'm just delighted you did."
She told her neighbor that the cake he brought her made her feel "very welcome," and that she wrote down her name and contact information for him.
"I have no words," Kelly said after delivering the pie. "I am simply on cloud nine and will be recovering the rest of the week."
Though the gesture seems simple, many TikTok users said the videos melted their hearts and even made them cry.
"This is such a sweet interaction," one person wrote. "Times has really changed. We need to bring this one back."

While some might see baking treats for your neighbor as a gesture from the past, Kelly encouraged people to try it.
"If you're watching this and you think that this is something sweet, something cool, go meet your neighbor," she suggested. "Go knock on their door and bake them some cookies."
