Dubai Princess Seemingly Divorces Husband Via Instagram — Signed, ‘Your Ex-Wife’

A Dubai princess has seemingly divorced her husband — but instead of getting served divorce papers, he got served a divorce Instagram post. On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the daughter of the current ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, made a post on her Instagram page that surprised many.

"Dear Husband, As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce," it reads. "I divorce you, I divorce you, and I Divorce You."

Declaring her divorce three times appeared to be a reference to the Islamic practice known as triple talaq, which allows husbands to divorce their wives by saying "I divorce you" three times, noted the BBC.

"Take care. Your ex-wife," Sheikha Mahra signed off. The post comes just a little over a year after the 30-year-old married Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum, and two months after she gave birth to their daughter.

In an Instagram post on June 4, 2024, the princess shared a picture of her and the baby. " Just the two of us ," she captioned it. She seems to have deleted all the photos of her husband from her feed, and he seemingly followed suit.
