Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had the opportunity to address his alleged "personal relationship" with New York magazine Washington correspondent Olivia Nuzzi, but he did not seem eager to talk about it. Nuzzi is currently on leave after admitting that she "engaged in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign," according to a statement from the magazine. The statement did not include the name of the "former subject," but a source told CNN that the subject was Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Nuzzi, 31, has said that "the relationship was never physical," per CNN — and it appears as though RFK Jr., 70, doesn't want to talk about it. During an interview on September 25, 2024, Fox News host Martha MacCallum said she wanted to "give [RFK Jr.] an opportunity to address some headlines."
MacCallum acknowledged that Kennedy has been at the center of several "scandals and old stories," but she wanted to give him the chance to speak about the alleged relationship with Nuzzi in particular.
"The latest one is an inappropriate relationship with a New York magazine political reporter who was covering your campaign," MacCallum said to Kennedy. Before suspending his campaign and endorsing Donald Trump, RFK Jr. was running for president as an independent.
"It’s gotten a lot of attention, so what do you say to your supporters who question your behavior and want to know what’s going on?" MacCallum asked Kennedy.

Instead of explaining his side of the story, Kennedy quickly tried to avoid answering the question. "I never comment on those kind of stories," he told her.
He tried to change the subject. "If you want to talk about health or how to end the war in Ukraine or how to end inflation and or how to end the censorship and surveillance regime, I'm happy to talk about those [things]," he added.
MacCallum continued to try to get him to say something about his alleged relationship with Nuzzi. "But as a person do you have any regrets about anything," she continued.
Kennedy once again declined to comment. "Like I said, I don’t make comments on it," he responded.
Despite the tense moment during the interview, Kennedy later shared a clip from a different portion of the interview on X and thanked MacCallum for the interview. "Thank you @MarthaMacCallum @FoxNews for letting me share how we can Make America Healthy Again. #MAHA ," Kennedy wrote on X.
A spokesperson for Kennedy previously told CNN that he only met Nuzzi once "for an interview."
In 2022, Nuzzi shared that she was engaged to fellow journalist Ryan Lizza, 50. However, on September 20, Lizza seemed to confirm that they had separated.
Writing for Politico Playbook, Lizzo said that he would not be reporting on Kennedy "because of my connection to this story." In the statement, he referred to Nuzzi as his "ex-fiancée."
Meanwhile, Kennedy has been married to Cheryl Hines since 2014. On September 20, the Curb Your Enthusiasm actress, 59, was spotted without her wedding ring, reported Daily Mail.
