What to Know
If you had to name the coolest Vice President of all time, would JD Vance come to mind? He seems to think so, though many people on social media are of the opinion that if you have to tell people you’re cool, you’re probably not. When another Trump admin official called Vance the “coolest” VP in U.S. history during a recent event in Wisconsin, he didn’t disagree. He actually repeated the claim and bragged about how, yes, he actually is the coolest — even if the bar is low, according to him.
Kelly Loeffler introduced Vance as “the coolest vice president.”
Though, to be fair, she did say “probably.” At the event, the U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator said, “You all know the story of his humble beginnings, and now he’s in the Oval Office as the second most powerful man in the world and probably the coolest vice president we’ve ever had.” A truly humble person might’ve just moved on from this introduction, but Vance actually brought the topic up again.
He reminded the audience of what Loeffler had said about him.
And totally overlooked the “probably” part. “I will say I took special note of one thing that she said, though,” Vance said. “Kelly said that I’m the coolest vice president in American history.” He then went on to suggest that he pushed back on this a bit—before ultimately agreeing with her. “And I said: ‘Kelly, that is a low standard. That is a very low bar,'” he continued. “But I do think that I clear that bar. But I think that was a low standard she set me to.”
People online couldn’t stop cringing over this. As the clip of Vance claiming to be the “coolest” VP started circulating on X and Instagram, they made their opinions known. Some were convinced that Vance had to mean “cold” when he said “cool.”
“I might…characterize him and the orange one as COLD – but, cool???” one critic on Instagram wrote. “Give me a break!” It also reminded some critics of the way President Donald Trump tends to brag about himself, which left them wondering who keeps telling both Trump and Vance things that inflate their egos. “Someone clearly lied to him,” someone on X concluded. Because even if the bar is low, a lot of people still don’t think he’s reaching it. “The top of your head doesn’t even reach the bar,” another person told Vance.
Saying that shows how uncool

he is.
Cringeworthy.
How embarrassing.
People actually shared “evidence,” too.
One critic on X shared a screenshot of an article about how “no one” likes Vance. Someone else pointed out that Vance has been booed multiple times, yet somehow seems to think he’s popular, or at least, “cool.” They wrote, “The guy who gets booed everywhere he goes thinks he’s the coolest VP ever.” And while many found the assertion embarrassing, some actually thought it was a bit sad.
“It’s kind of sad just how desperately he wants to be cool (and obviously is the farthest thing from it),” another critic wrote. “He’s tried to reinvent himself so many times trying to get people to like him and think he’s cool, but…yeah. No. Not ever.”
As someone else said, “Cool people never have to say they are cool, JD.”
