What to Know
Hunter Biden might be a highly controversial figure overall, but the comments he made about Elon Musk are pretty popular. When discussing the Trump administration’s immigration policies on Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan, Hunter, 56, implied that the former DOGE head is a hypocrite.
Though the interview is from July 2025, a clip of Hunter complaining about Elon recently resurfaced on social media, and a lot of people appreciate how blunt he was.
In his rant, he raised questions about Elon’s path to U.S. citizenship.

Speculation about Elon’s immigration story has been floating around for years now. Though he’s a U.S. citizen now, he was born in South Africa, and multiple reports have suggested that he worked within the U.S. without the proper authorization at one point. Snopes tried to investigate these claims in 2024 and noted that although his pathway to citizenship seemed “murky,” the claim that he was once undocumented remains “unproven.”
At the same time, citing former business associates, court records, and company documents, The Washington Post reported that Elon “worked illegally in the United States as he launched his entrepreneurial career after ditching a graduate studies program in California.”
In 2020, Elon tried to say, “I was legally there, but I was meant to be doing student work.” But according to The Washington Post, Elon did not actually take classes at Stanford and instead worked on his start-up.
Hunter seemed to reference this questionable story in his rant.
He couldn’t believe that Elon had the audacity to amplify anti-immigrant rhetoric.
Hunter Biden gets candid on Elon Musk: “You’ve got some motherf-cker who’s made over $251 billion being a United States citizen, that got here and stayed here illegally before he got his citizenship, sitting here lecturing us on who we should allow into the US”

Technically, he referred to Elon as “some motherf—er,” but everyone knew who he was talking about when he said it. Hunter said, “You’ve got some motherf—er who’s made over $251 billion being a United States citizen, that got here and stayed here illegally before he got his citizenship, sitting here lecturing us on who we should allow into the United States of America.”
“And giving us a f—ing (Nazi salute) along the way,” he added.
In response, people basically said Hunter’s not wrong.
Even those who are not necessarily huge fans of Former President Joe Biden’s son could agree with his analysis of Elon. The clip has resurfaced on Reddit, where one person wrote, “Not a fan of Hunter but no lies were said here.”
Someone else simply commented, “I hate that I have to agree with Hunter Biden.” Others agreed that Elon’s views on immigration do not make any sense when you consider his alleged immigration story. But, by the sounds of it, people didn’t necessarily expect Hunter to be the one bringing this issue up so succinctly. “Hunter B being one of the sanest voices in the room was certainly not on my 2026 bingo card,” one commenter wrote.
Another person acknowledged that Hunter definitely “had his flaws and demons,” but from their perspective, President Donald Trump’s family is worse. In response, a few people tried to argue that it might be because Hunter doesn’t appear to have daddy issues. “Hunter’s Dad loves him,” one of them wrote. “It’s something Trump and Elon Musk will never have, and it enrages them on a deeply personal level.”
