It turns out, the CEO of X actually has more than one official account on the social media platform. There are also verified accounts that claim to be affiliated with him. When one account which may or may not be officially run by Elon Musk shared a photo of the man behind SpaceX and a quote from him, people exploded in the comments nonetheless.
The post on X included something Musk once allegedly said about doing good in the world. However, according to the dozens of critics who commented on the X post, Musk has a long way to go before anyone actually sees the good he claims to have done in the world. For many, Musk’s political alliances and public choices outweigh anything else he has done. And even if the account is not Musk’s, the responses to the post are the real thing.
The Elon Musk X post features an alleged quote from him.
I’m simply trying to do the greatest amount of good with the limited time I have on Earth.”

The quote from Musk in the X post claims that the trillionaire wants to do things for the greater good. It’s unclear where the quote came from, but if it is legitimate, it has people talking. And not in a good way.
“I’m simply trying to do the greatest amount of good with the limited time I have on Earth,” the post says. It is accompanied by a photo of Musk looking off into the distance from a high platform as he leans on the railing.
Whatever the case may be about the quote itself, Musk has been filmed claiming to want to do positive things. That hasn’t stopped the negative discourse about him on the internet, though. And really, there isn’t much he can do to change the minds of his haters, short of actively and openly donating some of those billions he has.
In 2025, amid Tesla layoffs and then subsequent attacks on charging stations and the cars themselves, Musk told Fox News, “Tesla is a peaceful company. We’ve never done anything harmful, I’ve never done anything harmful. I’ve always done productive things.”
His critics flew to the comments to share everything Elon Musk is doing wrong.

Those who already can’t stand Musk commented on the X post, and the sentiment behind it, to share their thoughts on him.
One person wrote, “Such self serving delusional horse s–t. You could end poverty in the United States. Instead you make it worse. You are what’s wrong with the world, pal.”
Another commented, “You are doing absolutely no good by destroying the lives of people who can barely survive on the funds they have as it is with what you did with DOGE! You are overpopulating the world with your demon seeds and putting them into this horrible situation the Trump Administration is creating! You are taking all this money and making yourself richer when you could be using it to help the poor people who need food, housing, healthcare and other things around the world but you are too selfish and hoard that money which there’s no way you can spend in your lifetime. And you claim you’re trying to make things better! F–k all the way off you POS!”
Elon Musk was also accused of using his mom’s X account.

If it isn’t enough that Musk uses multiple accounts on X, and there are others that claim to be his and are verified, he was also accused of using his mom Maye Musk’s personal account to post content from time to time. Mind you, this guy already posts plenty of his main account and gets attention for doing so. Maybe it wasn’t enough for him.
In a since-deleted post that someone took a screenshot of and shared on Reddit, Maye responded to a post from Musk’s main account with verbiage that makes it seem like the response came from someone other than his actual mother. Many took this to mean that Musk sometimes uses his mom’s account to post other content, although Musk hasn’t admitted to that.
