Jeff Bezos has only been married to Lauren Sánchez for just over a year now, and people already think he seems… tired. Apparently, he just can’t keep up with his energetic wife, according to one insider who spoke to commentator Rob Shuter. Viral photos of Jeff and Lauren looking rather distant haven’t helped quell all the speculation about their marriage.
So, when Jeff filed to sell 15 million Amazon shares worth about $4.1 billion (per CNBC), some people somehow couldn’t help but make it about his relationship.
He also sold $5.7 billion in Amazon shares just after their lavish wedding.

This was just in June and July 2025. People have had questions about why he’s been doing this, and of course, some social media users decided to blame his wife. On Reddit, someone wrote that Lauren appears to be “bleeding him dry,” while another person said, “His wife needs 2 more plastic surgeries.”
A third person wrote that Jeff appears to be “desperate for cash.” In reality, Jeff is the third richest person in the world. Even if Lauren is looking to splurge, her husband can obviously afford it.
But people are clearly skeptical of their marriage.

Divorce rumors escalated earlier this year when Lauren and Jeff arrived at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party looking pretty awkward. At the time, a source told Rob Shuter that there’s definitely some “tension” in their marriage. Apparently, Lauren and Jeff have run into some difficulties now that “the honeymoon phase is over” for them.
“Everything changed the moment they got married,” the source claimed.
Another report from Rob suggested that the couple might not be the most compatible. Lauren isn’t way younger than Jeff; she’s 56 and he’s 62. But according to the report, Lauren has a lot more energy, and Jeff just can’t keep up.
“Lauren’s energy is non-stop,” one insider alleged. While on vacation, Lauren was reportedly “jumping, dancing, (and) laughing.” Meanwhile, Jeff “looked wiped.” Oof.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that their marriage is already failing, but it might be a challenge. “He’s happy, but he’s clearly worn out trying to match her,” another insider claimed.
In spite of the reports about alleged issues, they seem to be focused on building a life together.

The couple owns a lot of property across different states, and according to Rob, they might have Mar-a-Lago-style ambitions. In Florida, of course.
They own multiple properties on Indian Creek Island, and apparently, Jeff has a Donald Trump-inspired vision for their “forever home.”
“Trump owns the most famous estate in the state,” a source told Rob. “Jeff wants to build the most extraordinary one.”
When Jeff moved to Florida, he said he wanted to be closer to family. But the tax benefits were not lost on people: CNBC reported that he was expected to save “at least $610 million” in taxes by moving there.
Blue Origin might be a factor as well. He tried to say he was moving to Florida for the sake of his rocket launches. And during a 2018 interview, he said, “The only way I can see to deploy this much financial resource is by converting my Amazon winnings into space travel. That is basically it. Blue Origin is expensive enough to be able to use that fortune. I am currently liquidating about $1 billion a year of Amazon stock to fund Blue Origin, and I plan to continue to do that for a long time.”
