Workers Totally Demolish Empty Million-Dollar Home — Then Realize They Have Wrong House Number

After a while, many homeowners decide to leave their houses and put them up for sale. Usually, there are buyers willing to move in within a few months, but other times houses stay empty.

It is not uncommon for these houses to stay unoccupied for years until they are scheduled for demolition.

A demolition company in Australia was scheduled to tear down an empty home, and the workers showed up to the site and successfully brought the structure to the ground.

Then they realized that they had torn down the wrong house when the owner showed up and saw a pile of rubble instead.

The million-dollar house that was supposed to be demolished was 200 Marion Street. They destroyed 198 Marion Street.

But the workers claim their grave mistake was a simple case of mistaken identity. The mailbox of the house they leveled read "200," as it had for the past 55 years.

Steve Ballas was, of course, unhappy that his property was destroyed, though it was empty. He had planned to make a few renovations before renting it out. He received a call from a friend who passed by and didn't believe him when he told him about the state of things. But when he arrived at the address himself, he realized it was no joke.

But Ballas says that he can't be too upset. After all, the matter seems trivial to him after having survived cancer!
