Mom Hears Sound Of A Freight Train, Then Realizes Tornado Is Heading Toward Her Newborn

Amanda Stockfelt had brought her 8-week-old daughter, Autumn, to work with her. Little did she know that both of their lives would be in grave danger.

The New Orleans, Louisiana, mom was with her baby when she started hearing some unusual sounds outside.

In the video below, posted on February 8, 2017, the new mother explains, "I heard the sound of a freight train and I was holding her. All I could think of was putting her back in her car seat. So, I put her in her car seat, I buckled her up, I put her underneath my work desk. I crawled underneath there with her, I locked my arm around the handle of her car seat."

Her daughter's car seat was the first protective thing she could think of for her daughter. Once she buckled little Autumn in, the storm grew around them.

"We heard the trailer coming apart, and then we flipped over backwards. And then, it's like the trailer exploded and me and the baby went flying in the air," she says.

She then saw the inside of the vortex with her own eyes as the tornado rushed though the sky.

With a bit of shock still in her voice, she recalls, "I saw her and her carseat above my head and then we hit the ground."

She clutched the car seat cradling her tiny baby as tightly as she could. She says, "Don't let go, just don't let go. That's all I could think about, just don't let go. I couldn't think of anything else."

In the end, Amanda and Autumn survived their heart-stopping encounter with one of nature's deadliest creations. Although the quick-thinking mom kept herself and her baby girl alive, Amanda said it was all thanks to a durable car seat.
