What Led To The Death Of 3 Men Found Dead In Friend’s Frozen Backyard?

Questions concerning the three men who were found dead in their friend's yard, frozen, on January 9, 2024, still remain largely unanswered. The bodies of Ricky Johnson, David Harrington, and Clayton McGeeney were found two days after they went over their friend Jordan Willis' house to watch a Kansas City Chiefs game on January 7, 2024. After he didn't come home, McGeeney’s fiancée went searching for him and found a dead body on Willis' back porch. She ended up calling the police and soon after, the other bodies were found.

According to Willis' attorney, John Picerno, his client “is unaware of how his friends died,” and is “anxiously awaiting the results of the autopsy and toxicology report.” The Kansas City Police Department stated that there were no obvious signs of foul play "observed at or near the crime scene."

The KCPD also announced that it wasn't being ruled a homicide investigation. However, family members of the deceased shared that they suspect they aren’t getting the full story.

Jonathan Price, Johnson's brother, doesn't think the story is straight. “Nothing is adding up," he told People. "But primarily Jordan’s story does not add up whatsoever."

The brother went on to explain that Johnson, Harrington, and McGeeney were very close. Before their deaths, they were often seen on each other's social media, hanging out. However, he wasn't familiar with Willis.

According to the brother, the three men who died went to the same high school together. Willis attended a different school in the area. On the night of January 7, the men met over at Willis’ house to watch the game.

Initial reports stated that it was only the four men present. However, a fifth friend was later reported to have been there, but he left earlier in the evening. Willis claims that he last saw his friends once they left his house, and then he went to bed. "He had no knowledge that they remained in his backyard," his attorney stated.

In a later report by WDAF, they say that Willis' attorney has since claimed that his client went to sleep before the men left. “When he would have people over at his house, yes sometimes as people, they get tired, they’re people that are very close to you and you feel comfortable going to bed and allowing them to leave when they want to leave,” he said.

When police came by, Willis “allowed them into the house, told them all he knew, and voluntarily consented to a search of his home," his attorney stated. He added that all his client wants now is answers for how his friends died. "He’s known them for over 20 years. They’re his friends. He’s deeply hurt by their passing.”
