Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship began with a scandal. When the actors met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2004, Brad was married to America’s sweetheart Jennifer Aniston. By March 2005, Jennifer and Brad were divorced, paving the way for a July relationship announcement from Brad and Angelina.
Flash forward to 2016, and Brad and Angelina are the ones divorcing. It has been a messy process, with Brad facing allegations of abuse. In response to new court documents filed by Brad, Angelina’s friends are coming to her defense.
Brad’s court documents claim that Angelina would not sell him her part of their French vineyard, Chateau Miraval, because she was “vindictive.” Her alleged petty feelings were due to a custody ruling that did not go the way she would have liked it. Angelina’s friends tell a much different story.
“The reality is that [he] refused to complete the Miraval sale with Jolie unless she agreed to being silenced about the abuse … He demanded that $8.5 million be held back [from his payment to her for the winery] to force her to keep quiet,” a unnamed source close to the actress told Page Six.

“He cannot escape from the fact that he verbally and physically assaulted Ms. Jolie and their children — even choking one of the children and striking another,” the source adds.
Brad’s friends tell a different story, claiming the nondisclosure agreement he asked Angelina to sign was standard practice. “It wasn’t about the family matters,” this source claims. “It’s standard to have a NDA that stops someone from selling something, then disparaging it and diminishing its value.”
