Although Barron Trump clearly tries to stay out of the spotlight, he has still been targeted because of who his father is. Most recently, a video aired by Iranian state media appears to threaten Barron’s life. The United States Secret Service has said it is aware of the video.
It’s not the first time that threats against Barron have made headlines, and it’s also not the first time that the Trump family has been targeted by Iranian media. According to a report from CNN, this seems to be the first time that Iranian media have targeted Barron specifically.
The Secret Service has acknowledged the recent threat against Barron.

A spokesperson for the Secret Service has addressed the apparent threat, although he did not share any details.
“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” spokesperson Nate Herring said in a statement, per the Associated Press. “Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”
The video includes details about Barron’s suspected whereabouts.

According to reports from CNN and Time magazine, the clip in which Barron was threatened is close to three minutes long and was broadcast by state-run Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). IRIB is considered to be controlled by Iran’s Supreme Leader, as he is the one who appoints the person who runs the broadcaster.
The video features a graphic (written in English) that reads, “Where to kill Barron Trump?!” It proceeds to share details about locations where he is believed to spend time. Additionally, the clip claimed that Barron is being watched and that details about his whereabouts and his private social media accounts are known. Unlike his siblings, Barron doesn’t have any public or official accounts. He tends to keep to himself.
The person narrating the video also suggested that there’s a “$10 million reward” that people are “eagerly waiting to receive.”
Threats like this one have increased after the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Previously, Iranian media targeted First Lady Melania Trump.

And although that particular video wasn’t about Barron, he was reportedly mentioned in that one as well. Per Time, the message at the end of the video was, “Barron Trump, wait for us!”
While this seems to be the first time that Iranian media have specifically focused on Barron, Barron has made headlines before because of other threats against him.
In April of this year, it was reported that a Chicago man had been arrested due to threats he allegedly made against the president and his youngest son. He allegedly sent a disturbing message to the White House and threatened to decapitate Barron.
The man threatened to track Barron down in New York or Washington DC. He reportedly wrote, “I have absolutely every intent of plotting and carrying out an active assassination attempt against the President of the United States of America. This is a serious threat.”
The threats prompted Secret Service agents to visit the man’s home. The man claimed that someone else could’ve made the threat using his name and contact information.
