Have you ever seen someone in line at a coffee shop and thought, gosh, that person kinda looks like me? And then the barista calls out your name, but it’s not your drink that’s ready, but your doppelgänger’s, who actually has the exact same name as you?
This situation has been happening to two guys over the last few years, and the story gets even weirder, because they both also have the exact same profession.
Minor League Baseball pitcher Brady Feigl, 32, and Minor League Baseball pitcher Brady Feigl, 27, have been mistaken for each other more than once.
The doppelgängers, both exactly 6 feet, 4 inches tall with fiery natural red hair, were first mistaken for one another in 2015. They both had the exact same elbow surgery performed by the same doctor, a few months apart.
“I was probably six or seven months out of surgery and their office called our trainer and said, ‘Hey, when’s Brady reporting for surgery? Is he getting down here tomorrow?’” the younger of the two athletes told The Clarion Ledger.
That’s when he figured out he had look-alike out there.
“He was like, 'He had it six months ago. What are you talking about?'” Feigl, who plays for the Las Vegas Aviators, explained.
“That’s how I found out there was two of us.”
A few years later, there was another incident, when the University of Mississippi’s baseball team meant to tag their player in a birthday tribute, but tagged the wrong Feigl instead.
“Wrong Brady Feigl,” the Long Island Ducks player responded. “Might be looking for @bfeigl39….”
All of their similarities were so interesting that the two of them decided to take DNA tests to see if they were related in any way.
Oddly enough, they were not related, according to DNA results. However, the pair says the experience has still brought them together.
“We’re still brothers in a way,” the older Feigl told The Sun.
The DNA results were not totally unhelpful in the case, though. The result showed the two players did have one thing in common, according to HuffPost: 53% Germanic ancestry.
