Tallulah Willis has offered fans a glimpse of what it’s like to exist in the public eye. Of course, we’ve all seen people leave mean-spirited comments online. And based on the comments you come across when scrolling, it’s clear that some people still feel perfectly comfortable leaving rude and unsolicited comments about others’ appearances. A video Tallulah shared shows just how cruel and relentless the comments can be.
Her vulnerable post also shed light on how being bombarded by vicious comments about her appearance has impacted her over the years.
The post shows Tallulah scrolling through the comments on an article about her.
The cruel comments were left on an In Touch Instagram post about a throwback photo of Tallulah. Tallulah, who is the youngest daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, has spoken candidly about facing mental health challenges before, and did so again when reacting to the negative comments.
Tallulah noted that she tends to avoid reading comments like these, but surely it’s hard to ignore the comments entirely. On the post featured in her Instagram Reel, people left comments like, “What nightmares are made of” and “Bruce is prettier.” Someone suggested that Tallulah must have “some sort of medical issue.”
In her caption, Tallulah wrote about struggling with disordered eating.
Sometimes it seems as though the people who leave these kinds of comments forget that celebrities are people too, and seeing tons of negative comments about the way they look can obviously still affect them. And for those who don’t feel inclined to leave nasty comments on people’s posts, the things people say are pretty shocking to see.
“People seem shocked -genuinely- when I share my experience being called ‘medically disfigured’ ‘or something to fear,'” Tallulah wrote in the caption. “I don’t often read these things, but when I do I remember why I almost starved to death after a lifetime of disordered eating.”
Tallulah is also someone who uses her platform to spread kindness and be vulnerable, and yet, she still gets nasty comments like these. “I take pride in the fact that I choose kindness everyday, but I just hope to share with you all the realities that someone who has been unstoppably vulnerable in sharing their ups and downs still gets treated like this on certain corners of the internet.”
She added, “and for the record I am far from what nightmares are made of.”
Sadly, it’s not the first time that Tallulah has felt the need to address all the negative comments about her appearance.
In 2024, Tallulah and her loved ones shared a video of a synchronized dance they coordinated to celebrate the release of Scout Willis’ new song. The fun video also garnered some pretty mean comments, such as, “I have always said how do two such gorgeous people have such unattractive daughters…”
At the time, Tallulah shared screenshots of some of the cruel comments because she wanted to show her followers “how cruel and mean the comments on us have been our whole lives.”
“Thank god for therapy and thank god for @scoutlaruewillis new song!!!” she wrote at the time.
In 2023, Tallulah opened up about being in recovery after getting diagnosed with anorexia nervosa.
