On August 1, 2023, Britney Spears’ teenage sons Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16, moved to Hawaii. Their stepmom Victoria Prince got a job at a local university. The blended family, which consists of dad Kevin Federline, wife Victoria, and two half siblings, were excited for the fresh start for their family. On August 8, devastating wildfires broke out on Maui and the Big Island, including one that would go on to destroy Maui's historic town of Lahaina.
Sean and Jayden were not personally impacted by these fires, but feel deeply for their new friends and neighbors. It is a traumatic event to witness in their new home state. Kevin issued a statement through his attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan to express their sorrow and give an update on the boys.
“[They are] not personally [affected], but there’s people in the area that are dying and having their homes destroyed, so it’s very traumatic,” Mark told Page Six. “Obviously, right now, everyone is very sad about what’s going on there with the fires and the casualties from the fires, but other than the trauma from that, they’re very happy to be there.”
Britney had to give permission for the boys to be able to make the move. She did so happily, according to a source who spoke with People magazine. "Britney has always faithfully supported her children and wants them to be happy," the source stated.

Kevin wanted his sons to have a fresh start out of the limelight. "It's an opportunity for Kevin and his wife, and the boys are ready to get away from the LA microscope," Mark explained. Preston has already graduated from high school while Jayden will do his senior year remotely from the island.
