Chip and Joanna Gaines' latest renovation project is now open. The couple behind Magnolia Homes and Fixer Upper, a reality TV show about renovation projects, recently transformed a historic property in Waco, Texas, into Hotel 1928. The luxury hotel is named after the year that the building was built, and the 1920s speakeasy theme can be seen throughout the hotel. The building has 33 guest rooms and three restaurants.
"For us, this project represents everything we are most passionate about — hospitality, restoration, and home," Chip and Joanna said in a statement.
“We’ve always been firm believers in the value of home, as a place but also as a feeling. Our dream for this hotel is that it would serve as an extension of home to every guest who comes to stay," they continued.
According to the hotel's website, although Chip and Joanna wanted to create a unique hotel, they also wanted to maintain "as much of the original detail intact as possible."
In addition to 33 guest rooms, three restaurants, and meeting and event spaces, the hotel has another stand-out feature: a two-story library. The library was once a storage space for coal, according to the hotel's website.
There are four different types of rooms to choose from. The rooms feature amenities such as flat-screen TVs, room service, concierge services, and minibars. The hotel also has pet-friendly rooms.
