It’s been nearly eight years since Chris Pratt and Anna Faris finalized their divorce, and though the two of them remain on amicable terms, some fans are not over it. The fact that some fans are blaming Chris after Anna made a comment about not feeling supported in the entertainment industry makes this abundantly clear.
At the Scary Movie 6 premiere, Anna told Variety that Scary Movie fans have made her feel supported in a way that the industry as a whole has not. Somehow, this got people talking about her divorce from Chris again.
People have suspected that competitiveness could have played a role in Chris and Anna’s divorce.
When the former couple first tied the knot, Anna had already starred in various films, but Chris’ career hadn’t really taken off yet. A 2015 report from RadarOnline alleged that Chris’ fame affected their marriage. “Chris’ ego has exploded,” an insider claimed at the time. “He’s cocky and rude to Anna, who’s worried she’s old news now.”
A source also told US Weekly that Chris’ success “caused tension in their marriage.” Then, in 2021, Anna actually did admit that there was some “competitiveness” between her and Chris when they were together. “My two other marriages were with actors and I don’t think we did a great job of eliminating competitiveness,” she told Gwyneth Paltrow. “Or at least I didn’t, being a proud person, and not wanting to reveal vulnerability.”
More recently, when Anna spoke about her acting career, fans made it about Chris.

She recently told Variety, “The gift of Scary Movie, for me, is I have a fanbase like no other … And I really—man, I felt it. I’ve felt it for years. But not from the industry, you know?”
When Variety shared a snippet of the interview on X, several commenters implied that her divorce from Chris set her back in her career and made her feel this way. “Very unfortunate because she is super talented and stood beside that man before he got more famous and left her,” one person wrote in response to her comments. “Hope this is a revival of her career.”
“The industry went for the man,” someone else said. “The one who left and had a ‘better’ movie career, married into a good family blah blah blah.”
While some people had specific reasons for believing this, others admittedly did not. “I can’t prove it but I know it was Chris Pratt behind it,” another person said. And a fourth commenter wrote, “I’ll never know why the industry pushed her aside when she’s funnier than Chris Pratt ever was even at his peak funniest…”
At another point during the same interview, Anna said she thought she might be invited back for a cameo.

When asked if she ever anticipated this moment coming, Anna quickly answered no and said she thought she would have “a cameo” role in the movie instead. And once again, some of her fans blamed Chris for this. “Did she just say she thought she was only going to get a cameo in this movie?” a fan reacted. “Chris Pratt you will pay for what you did to this woman’s confidence.”
Both Anna and Chris are married to other people now. They also co-parent their son, Jack. This is not the first time fans have criticized Chris after their divorce. In the past, fans have had issues with Chris’ Mother’s Day posts because he prioritized recognizing his current wife, Katherine, even though Anna is also the mother of one of his children.
