Chris Pratt Sparks Backlash By Not Acknowledging His Ex-Wife On Mother’s Day

A simple Mother’s Day post from actor Chris Pratt ended up being pretty divisive. On May 11, 2025, Chris took to social media to praise his wife for being an amazing mom. And while that might seem like a pretty normal thing to do, some critics were not impressed by the post, all because he didn’t mention his ex-wife, who is also the mother of one of his children.

The Guardians of the Galaxy star is currently married to Katherine Schwarzenegger and they’ve welcomed three children together. But prior to marrying Katherine, Chris was married to Anna Faris. While they were together, they welcomed their son, Jack, in 2012. When Chris wished Katherine a Happy Mother’s Day, some critics told him that he should’ve acknowledged the moms of all of his children.

“How do moms do it?” Chris captioned his Instagram post, which included several photos of Katherine. “Seriously. It’s like running a circus, a hospital, and a five-star kitchen all at once. Our kids hit the jackpot with you, and so did I. We love you. Happy Mother’s Day, Chief!”

Although some fans appreciated the actor’s message for his wife, others questioned his decision to exclude his ex-wife.

“Um what about your other childs Mom?” one critic commented.

A second wrote: “Ex or not. On good terms of not … doesn’t matter.. She gave birth to his first children making him a father. To acknowledge that would’ve been the decent thing to do.”

“How do moms do it?” a third critic added. “Idk ask your first wife.”

However, some fans disagreed with this take and defended Chris.

“I don’t get these comments asking where his ex-wife’s post is,” one fan commented. “I don’t know anyone that posts Mother’s Day tributes about their exes?”

Others agreed that it would be “weird” for Chris to post about his ex-wife. “He’s married … If he praised his EX that would be weird,” one fan wrote.

Additionally, some fans pointed out that he could’ve sent a Mother’s Day message to his ex-wife privately — but doing so on social media is totally different. “People so worried about your private life with your ex wife and child that you’re not allowed to publicly show love to your wife and mother of your second born,” one fan wrote to Chris.

Another commented: “He might text or call her and tell her happy Mother’s Day … but to post on SOCIAL MEDIA come on. Yall act like if people don’t post it it’s not said at all.”
