Christina Applegate, Jamie-Lynn Sigler & Edie Falco Mourn The End Of Parenting Little Kids

There are certain milestones one reaches in parenting. First steps, first words, and the first lost tooth. One bittersweet moment that is not often talked about is when your little ones grow up and need you less. Moms Christina Applegate, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Edie Falco connected over this common mom experience on the second episode of Jamie-Lynn and Christina’s new podcast, MeSsy, which dropped on March 26, 2024.

All three are both moms and actors. Edie is a mother of two teens, Anderson, 19 and Macy, 16. Christina’s daughter Sadie Grace is 12. Jamie-Lynn’s sons Jack, 5, and Beau, 10, still have some little kids years left.

"Nobody talks about when those little kids disappear — it’s like a death," Eddie mused. It is easy to infer how one would miss the adorableness of tiny humans when dealing with the angst of the teenage years. Rattles are much cuter than eye rolls.

"Early parenting stuff is madness but it’s some of the most divine, precious hours of my life," Edie continued. "When they both fall asleep on you when you’re watching TV and it’s quiet and you realize, 'Oh my God I didn’t know I could feel this love.' And then they’re just gone forever and ever, and they’re just memories and are all over your iPhone!"

Jamie-Lynn finds herself "holding on to all the little baby things." She thinks it's so sweet that her son Jack just lost his first teeth. She can’t get enough of the fact that he "still doesn’t have knuckles."

Christina agreed with both Jamie-Lynn and Edie. “To know we’re not going to get that back freaks me out," she confessed. She also misses those baby years.

Christina shared that living with multiple sclerosis impacts how she parents. Jamie-Lynn gets this as well, as she shares the same diagnosis. Their friend Lance Bass introduced them because of this.

Christina and Jamie-Lynn connected immediately. "We'd talk on the phone for hours, laughing and crying," Christina shared with People "And then we were like, 'This is helping us. Let's record this.'" A podcast was born.

Christina and Jamie-Lynn plan to cover it all, not just MS. "That would be boring," Christina joked. The description of their show promises the women will “get vulnerable about the curveballs that life can throw…theirs just happens to be MS.”

Edie was their first guest. Jamie-Lynn and Edie both fought secret health issues while filming The Sopranos. "I'm so sorry when you were going through breast cancer, and that a lot of it was quietly,” Jamie-Lynn told Edie. “You said [James Gandolfini] called you out and said something is up. He did the same thing to me. He pulled me aside one day and said, 'Something is wrong and you’re not telling anybody,' and in that moment I told him."
