Christine Lakin Says She Was Fired From ‘Fuller House’ After Mocking Kirk Cameron

Fans of Full House got to see the Tanner girls all grown up when the show's reboot, Fuller House, ran for five seasons on Netflix before coming to an end in 2020. And according to what one actress says now, the show may have looked a bit different if she hadn't been kicked off of the cast before the first table read. Christine Lakin claims she was fired from Fuller House after she mocked star Candace Cameron Bure's brother, Kirk Cameron, years earlier — it's just her theory, but it might make sense.

While chatting with host (and Fuller House star) Jodie Sweetin on the How Rude, Tanneritos podcast, Christine said that she was originally poised to be part of the cast of the reboot, which premiered in 2016.

But even after a "great" meeting with showrunner Jeff Franklin, Christine got a call that the first table read had been postponed before she was finally told that she wouldn't be on the show at all.

"The next day happened and my manager calls and says, 'Hey, I don’t know how to tell you this, but you’ve been let go.' And I was like, 'What do you mean?'" she said. "And he said, 'Yeah, they just said they’re rewriting the character and they’re not going to need you anymore.' And I was like, 'What did I do wrong?' I didn’t even go to a table read."

She was never given a reason for why she was kicked off, but she does have her own theory about what may have happened behind the scenes that led to her role suddenly being axed.

Christine said she believes that it all came down to a "Funny or Die" video that she filmed seven years earlier that mocked Candace's brother, Kirk.

The video was a PSA from a fake group called CCOKC, or Child Celebrities Opposing Kirk Cameron. As The New York Post reported, this segment came after a CNN interview where Kirk had made anti-LGBTQ comments, which Christine called "very damaging."

She called the video "satire," but it seems like someone at the top may not have thought it was very funny.

"And all I can think of is that it created some bad blood. And seven years later, my presence was not wanted. That’s maybe what I think," she said.

Ultimately, the role that Christine was up for on Fuller House — C.J Hargenberger — went to actress Virginia Williams.

"It was a bummer for me. It really was," Christine said.

So far, Christine's theory hasn't been confirmed or denied by Candace, Kirk, or anyone involved with casting on Fuller House.
