David Beckham accepted an invite from King Charles to discuss the possibility of becoming a charity ambassador for The Prince's Foundation, which was founded by the king as a charity to help teach skills to young people. This invitation comes not too long after the former professional English footballer and his wife, Victoria Beckham, severed their ties with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The two couples had been close friends for years, with the Beckhams even attending the Royal Wedding in 2018.
However, once David and Victoria were accused of leaking information about Harry and Meghan, the accusations caused a fallout in the friendship. An insider close to the couples claimed that the accusations left David "absolutely bloody furious" and that reconciliation was unlikely.
David has previously been in a similar role as an ambassador when he represented Invictus Games, which is the multi-sport event for wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women founded by Prince Harry in 2014. Sources close to the Inter Miami president share that he's hoping for a honor such as a knighthood.

“It’s an open secret that David wants a knighthood one day and many people have questioned why he isn’t a Sir after all he’s done — and linking up with the King rather than Harry would certainly help,” a source explained. “The King wants to suss out whether he and David can work together and explore potential projects and find out if they share any common ground.”
David was awarded the OBE title in 2003 for his service to football. His wife was more recently awarded the same title in 2017 for her contribution to fashion. But according to the insider, David wants to aim higher this time.
The former footballer's previous opportunity of being knighted was upended when he was one of 1,000 people caught in the Ingenious films scandal. All involved lost their case to overturn a £700 million bill of avoided tax in 2017.
The meeting between David and King Charles may take place at Dumfries House, the foundation's headquarters in east Ayrshire, Scotland. The Prince’s Foundation was created in 2018 after the merger of The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community, The Prince’s Regeneration Trust, The Great Steward of Scotland’s Dumfries House Trust, and The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts.
It isn't just sources close to David that believe he should be knighted. Other people seem to think he'd be a great fit as well.
"David one of my most favorite footballers of all time. This man deserves a knighthood," one person commented under a video announcing news of the invitational dinner.
"Just the fantastic news we have all been waiting for," someone else wrote. "It seems almost a coincidence that Becks show is on Netflix at the moment. Perfect timing for all concerned. Well done."
