So many people around the world are starting to let out a sigh of relief as the first COVID-19 vaccines make their way into arms. It's been a nerve-wracking year where we've learned a lot about our country, our society, and ourselves.
Stella Parton decided to take some of her observations to Twitter over the weekend in an epic slamming that no one was ready for. Stella is the little sister of country sensation Dolly Parton. She's also a star in her own right, enjoying her own career as a songwriter and performer.
As stories crept up throughout the weekend of various politicians and other public figures being vaccinated, Stella reflected on what it took to get here. She didn't mince words when it came to pointing out how her big sister stepped up in a way that many others did not.
Stella Parton may be Dolly's little sister, but she packs a big punch all on her own. A country singer in her own right, Stella is not afraid to mince words. That's especially true when it comes to this year.
On Friday, as the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were being administered throughout the country, there was much discussion about who should be vaccinated in what order. It became evident that many in government would be vaccinated before the average person. They began sharing photos and videos of their vaccinations on social media.
Of course, Dolly famously contributed to the COVID-19 vaccine development efforts. Stella reflected on all those facts in a series of tweets.
"If a little Hillbilly singer like my big sister Dolly can invest in the vaccine then why the [expletive] can't some of you old moldy politicians pitch in a few million yourselves? I noticed you started getting vaccinated right away while people are starving and dying you [expletive]," she wrote.
It wasn't just politicians she felt didn't respond properly to the situation. She also called out televangelists.
"I haven't heard of one Televangelist donating one damn cent to the research fund but they sure can fleece the flock and try to cast out demons when they are possessed themselves!"
She even called quite a few out by name:
"If Paula White and Kenneth Copeland didn't convince you then what about Benny Hinn? BTW, he and Paula were caught 'holding hands' coming out of a hotel in Rome or Paris, not sure which but come on people, really!! Oh, let's not forget Jerry Falwell Jr. and his lovely spouse."
Many praised Stella for her candid remarks. They noted on how she and Dolly were obviously raised correctly and how others fell short. Some questioned whether it was really Stella, though, which she assured them it was.
"It is a pleasant surprise that one of my tweets has gone viral. Yes, I do post all my tweets!! You can tell by the numerous grammatical and punctuations mistakes I make," she wrote.
"I was pushed off of Facebook by those who disagree with my views. Thanks, Stella."
Stella also shared her belief that the people using faith to profit from others will get what's coming to them.
"'It would be better to have a millstone put around your neck and to be cast into the sea than to offend one of these little ones.' Luke 17:2," she wrote.
"These so called church leaders are in dire trouble for the way they behave. Just sayin' y'all!"
Stella revisited the subject once more on Tuesday, when she took aim at Joel Osteen.
"Now how is it that Joel Osteen can defend getting a 4.4 million dollar loan for his mega building while people in Houston are lined up for miles for food? Read Matthew 7:21-23 and keep reading what Jesus said about ALL of you so called church folks. This is unconscionable!" she wrote.
"All of you generous and Frightened church folk who give to these ministries until it hurts what have they ever done for you? What about all of you political junkies donating millions, you don't have to the Defeated President to keep him in the WH? What is wrong with you?"
