Trump Compares Toddler Running Across Stage To Former President Joe Biden

President Donald Trump is now more than a year and a half into his second term and he still can’t stop talking about his predecessor, Former President Joe Biden. Somehow, he manages to find different ways to insult Biden and make everything about him, even when you wouldn’t necessarily expect it (like when he accused Biden of using an autopen to a group of children at the White House Easter Egg Roll).

And on Wednesday, August 5, Trump took an unexpected jab at Biden again when a toddler started to wander off the stage during an event in Nevada.

Trump compared the toddler to Biden.

When speaking at the event, Trump invited a couple to join him on stage, and they brought their children with them. As the mom addressed the audience, the dad held one of their children. Their other child wandered around on stage. When Trump noticed the child dart across the stage and approach the edge of it, he intervened.

It was a humorous moment and the crowd laughed. Instead of leaving it at that, Trump decided to make a comment about Biden.

“I didn’t want him to be like Biden and fall off the stage,” Trump said.

The clip of this moment went viral.

Trump’s supporters clearly found his Biden joke hilarious. But his critics questioned why he remains so obsessed with him. Because why was he even thinking about Biden in that moment? Why is that what came to his mind when he was rushing to stop a child from running or falling off the stage?

“Biden seems to still be living rent free in his head,” someone commented on X. “Why can’t he just move on?”

Some of his supporters praised him for springing to action and acting like a protective grandpa. Obviously his critics saw it differently. They accused him of using an otherwise wholesome moment as an “opportunity to be an a–hole.”

Still, the fact that he reacted at all actually surprised some of his critics. “That is the first time I have seen him show concern for anyone other than himself,” one of them wrote. And someone else added, “Now he is going to give himself a medal for doing one good deed in his life.”

Some commenters also joked that they could understand why the toddler wanted to run off stage. “That kid had good instincts, getting away from Drumpf,” a critic wrote.

Both Trump and Vice President JD Vance have made fun of Biden for falling.

They appear to think it’s funny to joke about a man in his 80s stumbling. They also act as if these kinds of comments are still relevant today, even though Biden has not been president for some time now. During an appearance on The Dan Bongino Show earlier this year, Trump claimed that he has to be really careful when walking up and down the stairs… because of Biden. He doesn’t want the same thing to happen to him. He at least seemed to be admitting that it could happen to him as well.

Months later, Vance spoke about the same topic. He tried to say Biden wasn’t judged for falling down the stairs, but he would be in an instant if the same thing happened to him.

“I’ve got the angel on my shoulder saying, ‘JD, don’t be partisan. We’re gonna make this nonpartisan,'” Vance said. “And then I’ve got the devil on my shoulder who wants to talk about every time that Joe Biden fell up or down the stairs, and the media didn’t care about that. But if I did it one time … it would be a major, major story.”
