No one really asked for a new virtual tour of the Oval Office, but it must have been a slow day for Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino. He posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing what Donald Trump‘s office looks like now and all of the orange details. We all knew that, like Goldmember from Austin Powers in Goldmember, Trump loves gold. But this is a whole other level.
At what point will the Oval Office be covered from floor to ceiling with so much tacky decor that you can barely see the walls? It seems like it’s only a matter of time. And those who are Critics of Trump have a lot to say about what the Oval Office looks like now, even if Scavino is ready to gas up the president when it comes to his, um, design choices.

Scavino posted the video to his X account without an explanation. Instead, he added the date, an American flag and eagle emoji, and wrote that it’s the Oval Office. As if people haven’t seen it enough by now to know. In the wireless tour, we see framed portraits of past presidents (missing paintings or photographs of Joe Biden and Barack Obama, by the way) and a bronze bust or two of other presidents.
The amount of large framed paintings, however, is giving favorite boy band posters on your bedroom wall. OK, maybe not exactly, but Trump seems to come up with new decor on a dime to decorate the Oval Office, as though he is, in fact, a teenager outfitting his bedroom with all of his favorite things, from miniature military planes to ornate golden vases.
There’s also a gold bell. And the moment it comes into view, there’s a Batman logo sticker that appears on-screen. When someone pointed this out in a separate X post and asked what it means, another user responded, “Are you still trying to make sense of any of it?” Which is a pretty fair response.
It’s hard for some to take Donald Trump seriously with the design of the Oval Office.
It’s expected for a sitting president to change the Oval Office in their own ways to really make it theirs while they serve as the president. But for some, the general decor of Trump’s office, which includes more and more gold every time the American people get a glimpse of it, is just too much. It’s tacky and, to many, pretty unnecessary.
“It’s bloody awful,” one X user commented on Scavino’s post. “All that gold s–t is coming down. It doesn’t reflect the seriousness of the office or the essence of America. It’s the product of an offensive, self-centered, uncaring, disordered, harsh, bullying mind. The press circuses in the Oval are beyond pathetic.”
“Omg seeing them side by side makes it even more grotesque!” Another person wrote, in reference to an image of the Oval Office’s previous look next to Trump’s version of the space. “All that fake gold everywhere isn’t giving the ‘royal’ vibes he thinks it’s giving. White Trash House.”
People want to know who paid for the Oval Office changes.

During Trump’s second term in office, people seem to be far more aware than ever before what their taxpayer dollars are going to. There is also a general growing concern, especially when it comes to changes in the White House, the Oval Office included. When someone commented on the video to ask who is paying for all of the “tacky” decor, other people commented to claim that, technically, taxpayers did.
“And he was bragging it’s real gold,” a user added. “So I’m pretty sure he’ll take it with him when he leaves.” Of course, that’s if he leaves.
According to Fox News, Trump did personally pay for the gold decor and designs in his office during his second term.
