Some Dentists Are Paying Kids To Hand Over Their Halloween Candy For Charity & Good Health

The mark of a successful Halloween is having a ton of candy come November first.

But, of course, there's definitely such a thing as too much candy.

In fact, having leftover candy in your house can be a total disaster, especially if you're concerned about healthy eating, That bowl of leftover candy on the counter makes you super susceptible to mindless, sugary, snacking.

Luckily, there are some amazing things you can do with your Halloween candy rejects, from baking them into yummy cookies to giving them away entirely.

It may sound counterintuitive to give away that candy that you and your kids just worked so hard to get a hold of, but there are some serious benefits to donating the sweet stuff.

Many charities will happily accept your candy donations, from food pantries to homeless shelters to Operation Shoebox, a company that sends care packages to our troops. The Today Show has a comprehensive list of charities that are accepting Halloween candy.

By donating your leftover candy, you can make a child in need, or a soldier far from home, smile. Some communities even have drop boxes for leftover candy, making donating easy!

Some dentists are also offering rewards for handing over your tooth-decaying candy. The video below details some candy exchange programs that dentists in Tampa Bay, Florida, are participating in, but you can call your local dentist to see if they're up to something similar.
