Eva Marcille is calling people out for their lack of empathy and asking them to be kind. The actress posted a photo on Instagram earlier this week, in which she had her hair tied up in a bun while wearing black and white pants with a black bow top.
People left negative comments about her appearance, asking what was wrong with her and if she was OK. Some commented saying that she has lost too much weight. This prompted Eva to turn off the commenting feature on her post and ask people to "be kind."
"Please remember Chadwick and watch what you say," one person wrote. "Showing love is easier than spewing negativity." Eva acknowledged this comment, appeared to agree with the sentiment. Some people expressed concern after seeing Eva's response to the comment, wondering if Eva was hinting at something.
Chadwick Boseman died in 2020 after privately battling cancer for several years. Many people made comments about his appearance without knowing that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Some fans said that comments were not meant to be negative or mean.
"I don’t think there was malicious intent I think most of the comments come from a place of concern… You are iconic and we love you," one person wrote. "Keep your life private but please get help if this is something serious… that’s all. We need you here. ❤️Love to you and those beautiful babies."

Eva later followed up with her own post. The image reads, "My mom once said, 'Everyone in your life will have a last day with you and you don't even know when it will be.' Literally felt that." She captioned it with "Be kind."
"I personally think that picture is very beautiful, people are mean but unfortunately it’s the internet, but I will block negative comments so quickly, I wish you well, love, and peace!!!" one person commented on the post. "Forever will adore you ❤️❤️❤️❤️ y’all better leave my sister in my head alone, be nice it’s super easy Or scroll on!!!"
Another wrote: "u still look beautiful to me just can tell u are going through something and life changes are hard rich or poor be strong stay strong remember who tf u are cause I’ll never forget!!"
Eva is a mother of three and filed for divorce on March 23 after being married to Michael Sterling for more than four years. Some fans mentioned that Eva might be struggling because of this and called for more empathy and understanding.
People expressed concerns about Eva's weight on other recent posts as well. Some people pointed out that Eva has "always been skinny" and is a model. Others reminded people that bodies change sometimes and it can be normal.
"Women can’t be too big and can’t be too thin," one person commented. "We just have to have a say in everybody’s bodies. When will we learn that bodies change in healthy and unhealthy ways? Some things are in our control, some things aren’t. If you’re concerned, pray for her. Wish her well. Send light. Whatever it is that can be helpful or kind, but being shady or rude about someone’s body is never a gift or helpful to anyone."
Others have also reminded people to think about Chadwick when commenting on people's bodies.
"So clearly we have not learned from the passing of Chadwick Boseman and the type of judgment and scrutiny he underwent while dying wow," one Instagram user wrote a week ago.
On another post from Eva, one person commented: "You would think people learned from what happened to Chadwick , people criticized his weight and looks only to find out that man was battling cancer ! Eva has always been petite . Grant people grace !"
Still, when clicking on any recent post from Eva on Instagram, it's easy to find comments like, "Way to much weight loss! We have questions?" and "Love u Eva but please eat a burger."
Though some of the commenters have insisted that their comments about Eva's weight come from a place of love and concern, others have not been so polite.
