One of the downsides of being a famous actor’s child is they sometimes bare it for roles and we are not talking about emotions. Clara McGregor knows this firsthand. She is proud of her dad Ewan McGregor’s work, but that doesn’t mean she wants to see his naked body. This came up in a high school class.
Clara was taking a gender studies class where her teacher typically showed the film The Pillow Book. Her dad stars in this film and goes full monty. Thankfully, her teacher checked in with her ahead of the viewing but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t uncomfortable.
Clara and Ewan opened up about the experience during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on February 6, 2024. “When I was a senior in high school I took a gender studies class,” Clara began. Ewan just put his face in his hands.
“My teacher came up to me near the end of the semester and was like, ‘Listen, there’s a movie that I usually teach, it’s part of the curriculum, your dad is in it. There is some nudity so I wanted to run it by you before we watched it in class,'” Clara continued. It was nice of her teacher to check in.

Clara told her teacher she was OK with it. She didn’t overthink it. “And so we watched the movie called The Pillow Book — which is a brilliant film,” she stated. “But watching that movie at 17 with your entire high school class, it’s more like they’re watching me watch that film, which was definitely interesting.”
Jimmy asked Ewan if he appeared naked in the movie. “A lot,” Ewan stated. “Full-frontally nude, the whole time,” Clara clarified.
Ewan also shared that the teacher also reached out directly to him. “I went, 'Look, I wouldn’t want to be the reason you don’t show that movie to your kids because it’s a beautiful movie,'” he explained. “But I said, 'You have to guarantee that the kids are mature enough not to make fun of Clara or make her feel bad about it.'”
Clara said her classmates were pretty cool about the situation and no one made fun of her. She did confess it was “uncomfortable” for her, which seems like a natural reaction. She also believes it was similarly tense for her classmates.
Clara and Ewan are teaming up in the new film Bleeding Love. The real life father-daughter team will play a fictional father and daughter who are going on a road trip to reconnect. Ewan’s character hopes to put his daughter back on the right path after she gets into some trouble.
Ewan shares Clara, 28, and her siblings Esther, 22, Jamyan, 22, and Anouk, 12, with ex-wife Eve Mavrakis. Ewan and Eve divorced in 2020. In 2022, Ewan married Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Before their nuptials the pair welcomed a son Laurie in 2021. There were rumors that Ewan cheated on Eve with Mary.
Clara did not respond kindly to this speculation. She called Mary “a piece of trash.” She later walked it back explaining her actions were not “the most mature way to go about things” but came from a place of anger and hurt. “There had been a lot building up to it and a lot to deal with — not to make excuses or anything — but, yeah, it wasn’t my finest moment,” she admitted.
