Amid Messy Divorce Battle With Billy Ray Cyrus, Firerose Becomes A US Citizen

Firerose is currently dealing with an extremely messy divorce from Billy Ray Cyrus, but she received some good news in the middle of all the drama: She just became a United States citizen. The Australian-born musician, 37, broke the news on Instagram. She shared an Instagram Reel that included various images, including a photo of her with an American flag and a picture of the dessert she had to celebrate. "This amazing country’s been my home for 17 years," she captioned the post. "I couldn’t be more thrilled to become a US Citizen! ❤️"

Firerose and Billy Ray Cyrus, 62, tied the knot in October 2023. Seven months later, Billy Ray filed for an annulment, citing fraud. Both Billy Ray and Firerose have accused each other of abuse, with Billy Ray claiming that he was "verbally, emotionally and physically" abused by Firerose, and Firerose alleging that she "was the victim of extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse" while she was with Billy Ray.

In June, a source told People that Billy Ray allegedly "believes that she married for other reasons but love."

"He believes she married him so he can take care of her financially. They’ve had drama and trust issues about money," the source continued. Billy Ray allegedly felt "betrayed" after learning that she was previously married and divorced but reportedly did not share this information with him, reported TMZ.

These allegations from Billy Ray came after Firerose claimed Billy Ray filed for divorce just before she was scheduled to have a double mastectomy.

More recently, Billy Ray responded to leaked audio of an argument that occurred between him and Firerose. On his Instagram Story on July 24, 2024, Billy Ray wrote, "As every day went by, I started realizing something was wrong. And that’s before I knew she was a fraud."

"I just knew something wasn’t right," he continued. "That was before I knew she was David Hodges ex-wife. That’s before I knew her parents last name.”

In the same post, he accused Firerose of "trying to take over my career, my life and usurp the Cyrus name for her own gain."
