Life is hectic and sometimes you just need to order yourself a meal instead of cooking. One trusting customer in Long Beach, California got more than they bargained for when their Grubhub driver allegedly decided to sample their meal. Martin Luzanilla, the CEO of the Mexihana's Hibachi Grill saw it go down on video and took action.
The driver denied it at first but Martin reviewed the video recordings. He went the extra mile and called the customer. He even delivered a fresh meal himself.
"I noticed that he was untying the bag and started chowing down on the food," Martin recalled to ABC7. "I went outside and I was like 'What the hell are you doing?' And he's like, 'Oh, this is my lunch.' So I said, 'I'm sorry. If that's your food, I'm very, very sorry.' So I came back in, I reviewed the cameras and it was actually a customer's food that he was enjoying."
Martin feels passionate about this because it reflects badly on his restaurant, a place he worked hard to build. "Grubhub hits us back and says 'Hey, you know what, this customer didn't get enough shrimp, or this customer didn't get his fried rice, or this customer didn't get his garlic noodles — well, of course! Your drivers are buffeting on their food!" Martin explained. "So who pays for it? We do."
He made it right by calling the customer until they answered and personally delivering a fresh meal.

GrubHub issued a statement about this incident. "The vast majority of our orders are completed without incident or complaint, and when things don't go as planned, we work hard to make things right. Upon hearing of this situation, we took immediate action and suspended the driver from our platform,” they wrote.
Martin hopes he did his part in preventing situations like this from happening. "I hope he never delivers to anyone again," Martin mused.
