In September 2023, the world was introduced to a new kind of bachelor on the popular television franchise. Gerry Turner was named The Golden Bachelor at age 72. The show was a huge rating success for ABC. Gerry won audiences over with his story about his late wife and how he has not been with anyone since her death.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, this might not be entirely true. A woman went on the record claiming to have dated Gerry just one month after his wife died from cancer. She spilled the tea on their relationship.
The woman in question went by the fake name of Carolyn to protect her identity. She shared that Gerry first sent her a text one month after his wife died. They met because she worked at the Vera French Mental Health Center as an accountant where Gerry worked as a maintenance man. She eventually moved into his lake house and even got a new job to make the relationship work. She says they dated for about three years. Things took a turn when she gained a little weight.
Babara Lippert, who wrote the original article, opened up to Inside Edition about the bombshell revelation. "They were planning to go to his high school reunion and he was very excited about it and so was she, so she started packing and he looked at her and said: 'We’re not going with you looking that way,'" she explained. "She had gained 10 pounds."
His bad behavior did not stop there. She says he made her prepay him when they went out to eat so he could pay the bill in the restaurant and look manly.

Carolyn claims he broke things off with her shortly after the reunion incident. She was forced to move out of the lake house and into a hotel to finish her two weeks' notice at the new job, during the harsh winter and while she was injured from a bad fall. She wants the world to know who he really is.
