Ghislaine Maxwell Was Dumped By Her Husband Via A Phone Call To Her Jail Cell

Ghislaine Maxwell is making some uncomfortable adjustments as she faces spending the rest of her life in jail.

One of those was ringing in her 60th birthday, on Christmas Day of, while she was locked up at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. That one may pale in comparison, however, to the fact that her husband left her by phone call in jail.

It's unclear exactly when Scott Borgerson, who is believed to have married Maxwell sometime in 2016 following his divorce from his first wife, told Maxwell it was over. Details have come forth that suggest it wasn't a pretty breakup at all.

Scott Borgerson has concluded his time standing by Ghislaine Maxwell. It seemed the tech maven might stay by Maxwell through thick and thin. He even offered millions of pounds in joint assets as part of her $28.5 million bail plea. By the time the case came to trial, though, it seems things were over between the two.

The Daily Mail shared news from a source that Maxwell and Borgerson had split, and it wasn't Maxwell's idea. Borgerson reportedly broke things off with Maxwell during a phone call during her jail time, and he also revealed in the same call that he'd moved on with someone else.

"There was a dramatic phone call between them, while she was in jail in solitary confinement. It became confrontational," the source shared.

"Scott told her he had moved on and was seeing someone else. The marriage was past tense there and then. It's over. The marriage was over before the trial started."

When asked about the marriage, another source pointed to Borgerson's absence at her trial.

"He did not attend a single day of her trial. Read into that what you will," they reportedly said.

Their relationship hadn't been a conventional one since the arrest of Jeffrey Epstein and later, his death.

"Once their home had been discovered she left, mostly to protect the children. They were being teased at school. Anyone associated with Ghislaine finds they become toxic," a source noted.

"When Epstein died the Maxwell family decided to protect their sister from the media and people who might be out to hurt her. She had a lot of death threats. The Maxwells insisted on sending her away but Scott insisted he could protect her if someone tried to invade their property. Scott would fly to see her when she was traveling around."

Maxwell moved from place to place, but acquired "Tukedaway," a home in Bradford, New Hampshire, for $1 million cash at the start of 2020. There, Borgerson and his children would visit.

"They continued to live as a family," the source shared.

"They were happy. Then it all came crashing down."

The length of time she's been in jail, coupled with him meeting someone else, seems to have led to the end.

"At first Scott stood by her and wrote letters to the court and offered joint assets to try and get Ghislaine our on bail," the source said.

"But she has been behind bars for 549 days now. It put a terrible strain on the marriage."

Borgerson was believed to have been seeing Kris McGinn, writer and yoga teacher. They first met in 2013 at the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Maxwell was reportedly leaning on her family as she faced sentencing and the appeals process.

"She has been disappointed by several former close friends who have abandoned her. An ex-boyfriend was asked to come forward and talk about the woman he loved, to defend her character in court, and he said 'no way!'" a source said.

"But her siblings remain loyal and united. They believe in her innocence and they believe that one day she will walk free. They have put their own friendships, reputations and business opportunities aside to support their sister. They believe she will prevail."
