Some moments in life feel surreal and made-up. A hawk dropping a snake on you and then attacking you falls into this category. This stranger than fiction event happened on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, in Silsbee, Texas.
Peggy Jones was minding her own business and mowing her lawn when a snake fell out of the sky. Bewildered, she tried to get it off her arm when a hawk attacked, seemingly to retrieve its prey. The hawk eventually succeeded, but Peggy sustained deep cuts and bruises in the process.
“The snake was squeezing so hard, and I was waving my arms in the air,” Peggy told KPRC. She did not know what else to do but pray. “And then, this hawk was swooping down clawing at my arm over and over. I just kept saying, ‘Help me, Jesus. Help me, Jesus.'”
Peggy’s husband took her to the emergency room for her wounds. He heard her screams and ran to see what was going on. “I was yelling and screaming. He didn’t know what I was saying. I thought I was bit by a snake,” she explained. There was no bite but venom was found on her broken glasses.

Peggy’s friends and family told her she must be the most unlucky person alive to have this happen to her. Peggy has a much more optimistic outlook. “I feel like the luckiest person alive to have survived this!” she exclaimed.
