Former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy was an influencer before the term was even coined. The world admired her fashion, grace, and poise in everything she did. After her husband President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, she moved into the Baker House in the Washington, DC, neighborhood of Georgetown, where she lived for one year.
Today this 18th-century federal-style residence has been combined with two other houses to form a gigantic 16,300-square-foot mansion. The property has been on the market since 2022 and was originally listed for $26.5 million but is now down to $19.5 million. From now until October 24, 2023, it is in a no-reserve auction.
The three combined properties make an impressive compound with 13 bedrooms, 13 full bathrooms, and five half bathrooms. Jackie was not the only famous person to live here. Georgetown Mayor Thomas Beall, Secretary of War Newton D. Baker, and the former Miss America Yolande Fox all called this place home as well. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Jackie’s not-so-humble home has been maintained to perfection. It features a grand entry hall, original fireplaces, and an impressive library Belle would approve of. Let’s not forget the gym, office, and dining room with gold-leaf ceiling.
