A Viral Photo Of JD Vance Has People Convinced Trump’s ‘Fat Friend’ Story Was About Him All Along

After seeing a viral photo of Vice President JD Vance’s new look, some people are convinced that President Donald Trump had something to do with the dramatic change. Is this Vance’s version of a Mar-a-Lago makeover? Trump has made a lot of comments about Vance’s appearance. Apparently, he has critiqued Vance’s fashion choices on more than one occasion. Now, Vance feels like he has to “dress conservatively” around Trump because of all of his complaints.

Trump has also made weird comments about Vance’s body. During an Easter event this year, Trump scanned the room for Vance and acted like he couldn’t find him anywhere. When he finally spotted him, he said, “Oh, JD! He’s lost weight. He got a little thinner. I’m looking for a heavyset gentleman, and now I find a perfect-looking specimen!” Um, OK.

You also might recall how Vance once insisted that he’s not the “fat friend” Trump frequently likes to talk about, even though no one asked whether he was. But a new photo of the vice president suddenly has some people wondering whether Vance really is that so-called “fat friend.” Perhaps, Trump’s frequent comments about the way he looks have gotten to him.

The rumors emerged because the viral photo makes it look like Vance has lost a lot of weight.

On June 8, PatriotTakes shared an image of the vice president and his wife, Usha Vance, outside of their Washington D.C. residence, which they turned into “Camp VPR” (Vice President’s Residence) for their second annual family campout event.

Many social media users immediately noticed that Vance looked a lot thinner. They assumed that his weight loss might be one of the effects of having a boss who is obsessed with the way people look and never stops talking about it. “Trump made him lose weight,” one person concluded after seeing the photo.

Tons of people accused Vance of using weight-loss drugs.

The post garnered quite a few comments about Ozempic, which then led to people wondering whether Vance really is Trump’s “fat friend.” On multiple occasions, Trump has told a story about his “fat friend” who tried to use “the fat pill” to lose weight. According to him, this friend went to London and realized the drug was much cheaper there. Though he hasn’t referred to this “fat friend” by name, he once said, “He knows I’m talking about him. It drives him crazy. He begs me not to mention it.”

For some reason, Vance interjected and said, “He’s not talking about me.” And no one really thought he was until after he said that (and after they saw the recent Camp VPR photo). “Oh, so JD Vance is the ‘friend’ who’s on the ‘fat’ pill that Trump always talks about?” one X user wrote after seeing the image.

Someone else actually tagged Vance and said, “How’s that Ozempic working out?” Perhaps Trump isn’t fully to blame, though. To be fair, he’s not the only person who has commented on Vance’s appearance now that he’s in the spotlight. A few people argued that the jokes people made online could’ve gotten to him too. “Fat memes did a number on him,” another commenter speculated.

Meanwhile, some people could not believe the photo was actually real.

While some critics suspected Ozempic, others assumed the change in Vance’s appearance was due to Photoshop. They’re not totally convinced that Vance actually looks that thin and assumed the photo had to be edited. Several critics also had questions about the Second Lady after seeing the viral photo.

Previously, when asked whether she owns a MAGA cap, Vance’s wife said she’s just not that into hats and doesn’t really have any. Those who remember this awkward answer immediately noticed her hat in the photo. But hey, maybe her appearance has also been influenced by the Trump family.

“Looks like Usha borrowed one of Melania’s hats,” someone commented. “I thought she didn’t ‘do’ hats.”
