Just a day before President Donald Trump threatened him on social media, Jimmy Kimmel shared that he was enjoying a summer vacation with his family — by attending an anti-Trump protest. On July 17, the Jimmy Kimmel Live host shared a photo of his family, including his 11-year-old daughter and his 8-year-old son, holding protest signs.
His youngest son held a sign that read, “I wish we had a better president!” Meanwhile, his daughter’s sign read, “Say no 2 spray tan man. His fave food is cheetos.” Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, both held signs as well. In the comments, fans praised Kimmel’s “good parenting.” One fan wrote, “Teaching them young, I love it!” A second commented, “Your daughter’s sign is 🔥.”
Kimmel’s caption was an apparent reference a recent Wall Street Journal article. The article alleged Trump previously sent a letter to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein on his 50th birthday. According to the publication, Trump’s letter to Epstein read, “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.” Kimmel captioned his anti-Trump Instagram post with the same line. “Summer family vacation! #goodtrouble,” he wrote. “May every day be another wonderful secret.”
His anti-Trump Instagram post came amid the drama surrounding the cancellation of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. On July 17, Colbert announced that CBS decided to cancel his show. Though CBS claimed the decision was “purely a financial” one, it’s raised concerns due to the timing. Just before the firing, Colbert spoke out against the network’s settlement with Trump.
Additionally, Trump took to Truth Social to celebrate the decision — and also threatened Kimmel in the process. He suggested that Kimmel’s show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, should be canceled “next.” On July 18, 2025, he wrote, “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!”
