Uncle Jesse wrote a book and is doing the press rounds to promote it. John Stamos’ memoir, If You Would Have Told Me came out on October 24, 2023. That same day he appeared on The Howard Stern Show, where he opened up about Bob Saget’s funeral.
The somber event reunited him with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The twins gathered their Full House castmates to thank them for their time together on the show. John had wanted the twins to do the reboot series, but they declined so it was good to clear the air. He was deeply moved by their words.
"They came to Bob's funeral, and it was so beautiful. We all needed it," John recalled. "They got us all together and said, 'We love you. We loved our childhood. We're grateful for you guys. We thank you for making those eight years so beautiful for us. We have such fond memories. We love you.' Everybody just needed to hear that, and I think it's Bob doing it, you know.”
Bob Saget died on January 9, 2022, while on tour. His body was discovered in his hotel room in Orlando, Florida. He died from blunt head trauma with no drugs or alcohol in play. He was survived by his wife, Kelly Rizzo, and three daughters, Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer.

John admits he was annoyed at first that the twins didn’t want to be a part of Fuller House. “I was upset at first — and it kind of got out — and I was only upset because I just thought it would be nice [to have them in it]. I produced it. We came up with an idea and everything," he admitted.
He eventually understood their decision with some help from Lori Loughlin. "But they just didn't — they weren't acting, and I don't think a real offer came through,” he explained. “And Lori Loughlin said to me, 'You know, they just two CFDA awards. That's like winning Oscars. They don't want to come do this.' I said, 'OK, I get it. I get it.'" This is why Mary-Kate and Ashley’s gesture at the funeral meant so much to him.
