Pregnancy does a number on our bodies. Twin pregnancies … forget about it. Actress Julie Bowen knows firsthand just how much a twin pregnancy can change a woman's body. She opened up about it and the plastic surgery she had to reverse the repercussions on The View.
The 52-year-old got really candid on the talk show, saying she "finally" got her "stomach fixed" after her twin pregnancy in 2009. Julie had two boys, Gus and John.
The conversation about plastic surgery started when Sunny Hostin shared that she recently went under the knife. The View cohost had a breast reduction and lift, and she said she feels much better about how she looks now. Julie was totally floored by Sunny's share.
“You talked about it? Just like that? Oh, God, I love you. I love that,” she said.
“I finally got the stomach fixed,” Julie said about her own plastic surgery. “Finally, after all these years. Because they ripped it open — the twins just ripped it.” Julie also has a 15-year-old son, so she's had three babies grow inside her!
She continued, opening up about how she always planned to do something about her post-pregnancy belly. "And I said, 'As soon as Modern Family is done … I'll get it fixed.' But it was 11 years! So 11 years later, we wrapped on Friday and Monday they went in and they do you like a sneaker."
None of the cohosts shamed Julie for her honesty. In fact, everyone complimented how great she looks.
“You look snatched. You look good,” Sunny told her.
The conversation was so candid and important. It should serve as a reminder that whatever women do with their bodies is really their own business. Plastic surgery to remove excess skin, stretch marks, whatever made Julie feel good, so good on her.
